WALNUT CAKE RECIPE

"This double layer chocolate walnut cake is tall, moist, and loaded with walnuts and chocolate flavor. It’s a moist and indulgent cake to make and share with family and friends."

INGREDIENTS

– all-purpose flour – granulated sugar – cocoa powder – baking soda – baking powder – fine salt – milk – coconut oil – eggs – vanilla extract – freshly brewed coffee – chopped walnuts

MAKE THE BATTER

Whisk together the all the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix together the liquid ingredients. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until the batter is lump free.

ADD THE COFFEE

Pour the hot coffee in and stir, scraping down the sides as needed, until your ingredients are fully combined. The batter will be very thin, this is just how we want it!

FOLD IN THE WALNUTS

Toss the walnuts with flour to prevent them from sinking. Then, gently fold the them into the cake batter, taking care not to overmix and lose their protective coating.

BAKE

Pour the batter into the cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes at 350°F (180°C), or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

MAKE THE FROSTING

Using a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or a hand mixer, beat the frosting ingredients until smooth and creamy.

ASSEMBLE THE CAKE

Once the layers are completely cooled, assemble and frost the cake. Garnish with walnuts if desired.

HOW TO STORE

This chocolate walnut cake will stay moist for days. Keep the frosted cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
