Whisk together the all the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix together the liquid ingredients.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until the batter is lump free.
Pour the hot coffee in and stir, scraping down the sides as needed, until your ingredients are fully combined. The batter will be very thin, this is just how we want it!
Toss the walnuts with flour to prevent them from sinking. Then, gently fold the them into the cake batter, taking care not to overmix and lose their protective coating.
