Summer is in full swing, and what better way to beat the heat than with popsicles? These strawberry mango bone broth popsicles are a fun summer treat that offer the gut-healing benefits of bone broth. The best part? The kids won’t even realize it’s in there, making it a nutritious treat the whole family can enjoy. So ditch the food dye laden ice pops from the store and grab yourself a popsicle mold!

Why Use Bone Broth?

These popsicles contain bone broth because it is truly a superfood packed with collagen, amino acids, and minerals. With its rich collagen content, bone broth nourishes your skin, hair, and nails, while also supporting joint health, promoting flexibility, and reducing discomfort. Collagen also works wonders for your gut, soothing inflammation and healing the digestive lining.

But the benefits don’t stop there. By consuming bone broth, you’re providing your body with essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, which support strong bones and teeth. The amino acids present in bone broth contribute to muscle repair and growth, making these bone broth popsicles an excellent choice for children.

With so many health benefits to offer, bone broth makes a valuable addition to your diet and your popsicles!

Do They Taste Like Bone Broth?

Not at all! The strawberries, mangos, lemon juice, and honey in these frozen treats make the bone broth completley undetectable. I’ve never actually revealed to my children that these popsicles contain bone broth, and they remain blissfully unaware. In fact, they enthusiastically devour these strawberry mango bone broth popsicles at an alarming rate whenever I make them.

Which Bone Broth Should I Use?

The secret to getting all the health benefits of bone broth in these popsicles, without them taste like icy chicken juice, is to use unsalted or low-sodium bone broth. If you decide to make your own bone broth at home, omit the salt, onions, and garlic in your next batch. This will result in a less savory broth that is better suited for making these strawberry mango bone broth popsicles. If you haven’t attempted making your own bone broth yet but would like to give it a try, take a look at this stove-top recipe.

If you’re purchasing bone broth to use in this recipe, opt for beef bone broth, as it naturally tends to have lower sodium content compared to chicken bone broths. Excellent low sodium bone broth options are available from brands like Dr .Kellyanne and Bare Bones.

Ingredients You Will Need

  • Strawberries – Strawberries are incredibly refreshing during the summer. Fresh or frozen strawberries will both work perfectly for this recipe.
  • Mangos – Mangos complement the strawberries beautifully, and bring in some tropical undertones. You can use either fresh or frozen mangos for the recipe.
  • Honey – The fruit makes up most of the sweetness in this recipe, so only a small amount of honey is necessary to achieve a well-rounded flavor.
  • Lemon Juice – Lemon adds some tartness that helps to mask any lingering bone broth flavor..
  • Bone Broth – The secret ingredient! Bone broth packs these popsicles with collagen, amino acids, and minerals.

How to Make Strawberry Mango Bone Broth Popsicles

In a blender or food processor, combine the bone broth, diced mango, diced strawberries, honey, and lemon juice. Blend the ingredients until smooth. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey if desired. If you’re using frozen strawberries and mangos, heating the bone broth before adding it can make the blending process easier.

Pour the mixture into popsicle molds, leaving a small space at the top for expansion. Insert popsicle sticks into the mold and place it in the freezer to let them freeze for at least 4-6 hours, or until solid.

Once fully frozen, remove the popsicles from the molds by pushing up on the bottoms. Running warm water over the outside of the mold can help release the popsicles.

Serve and Enjoy!
